Cardinal Hayes Home for Children

Description: The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) provides spiritual, athletic, cultural and recreational programs to youth and young adults of the Archdiocese of New York. Description: Create was established in 1970, to promote the physical, psychological, social and spiritual well being of the poor, homeless, chemically dependent and alienated members of the community by providing caring community-based services. It provides residential and outpatient services to chemically dependent persons and initiated a Senior Citizen Day Services program. In 1983, it opened Create House, a privately operated shelter. In 1991, Create began Create Young Adult Center for homeless young men aged 18-25. In 1996, CREATE established Westminster House, which provides 11 units of supportive housing for homeless recovering chemically dependent individuals, single parents and their families. The agency also provides a community-based emergency food service for the hungry called Create/Anthony House.

Dwelling Place of New York
Description: The Dwelling Place of New York is a transitional shelter for homeless women, 30 years of age and over. Fifteen beds provide overnight shelter for women on a regular basis. Assistance is given for entitlements as well as job search, and job training. A Medical and Psychiatric Mobile Outreach provides on-site services for women in need. The ultimate goal is to find permanent housing. Along with the Shelter Program, The Dwelling Place offers dinner for any woman, 30 years of age and over seven days a week. The Dwelling Place provides a safe place where women can come and not only share a meal, but also monthly birthday celebrations, holidays, health lectures, yoga classes, and prayer services.
