Junior Board Committees

Volunteer Committee

The Mission of the Volunteer Committee is to extend the services of Catholic Charities through works of mercy, kindness and compassion to the needy. Volunteers share the gift of time and self-giving so that the spirit of others may be uplifted.

All volunteer projects of the Junior Board are run through the Volunteer Committee. Each program will have designated Project Leaders, who will sit as members of the Volunteer Committee and stay in regular contact with the Volunteer Committee Chair.

Faith Committee

The Faith Committee acts as a resource for connections to spiritual programs and services. These faith-sharing opportunities will be scheduled throughout the year. Examples include: Sunday night Mass opportunities, Theology on Tap and various others.

Social/Fundraising Committee

The Social/Fundraising Committee plans and organizes all social events and fundraisers for the Catholic Charities Junior Board. Committee members are responsible for working with the Catholic Charities staff to determine date, location, and theme of the event as well as seeking donations to underwrite its cost. Social events will range from small-scale weeknight get-togethers or sporting events, to weekend-night affairs. The Junior Board will host approximately eight events a year.

Advocacy and Network Communications Committee

This multidimensional committee works at the intersection of public relations, marketing, outreach, new media, and network-building. We are dedicated to increasing the visibility of the Junior Board and building a strong and active member base.

Activities range from developing targeted marketing and communications plans to support Junior Board initiatives and events, to more broad-scale projects focused on integrating the young Catholic communities of New York.  Members will help establish a base for E-Philanthropy, Events Calendars, and help create opportunities for young people to connect with their peers and get involved in the various works of the Junior Board.

St. Nicholas Project Committee

The St. Nicholas Project Committee engages Junior Board members, volunteers, donors, friends, family and colleagues in activities to support this year-round project. Items of necessity such as coats, hats, sweaters, and blankets are provided clients in need throughout New York.  Committee tasks include fundraising, sorting clothes and toys to be distributed to clients, proofreading client stories, volunteering at our annual Kmart Shopping Day and more.
