After-school Assistants

Description: Help elementary and middle-school students with homework, demonstrate arts-and-crafts projects, lead creative playtime and outdoor activities.

Purpose: You will offer alternatives to at-risk youth who are often isolated, helping them to improve their academic skills and become active members of the community.

Where: The Bronx

When: 2 – 3 hours a week, after 3:00 pm

Duration of Commitment: 4-month minimum

Type of Volunteers:  Individuals

Skills Needed: Outgoing personality, patience, creativity and enjoyment of outdoor activities.  Knowledge of school subjects and age-appropriate activities is helpful.

Orientation / Training: A brief orientation and training will take place at the site.
