Game Timers / Scorers

Description:   Help with major responsibilities during practice and tournament games.  Responsibilities include knowledge of the rules of basketball and/or other sports, such as track and field, running the scoreboard, keeping time and tracking other essential game details. This is a good job for someone who can work independently and under pressure.

Purpose:   As a volunteer timer or scorer, you will ensure that everyone at a game, including coaches, referees, players and fans can make the most of the experience.

Where:  various parishes in all 10 counties of the Archdiocese of New York, particularly the Bronx and Manhattan

When:  Monday through Friday 3:00 – 9:00 pm  (may vary), Saturday 8:00 – 10:00 pm  (may vary), Sunday 1-9 pm (may vary)

Duration of Commitment:  September to June

Type of Volunteers: individuals

Skills Needed:  ability to operate scoreboard console and keep score

Orientation / Training:  A brief orientation and training program will take place at the site.
