ESL Tutor for the Blind

Description:  Help clients learn or improve their English reading, writing and math skills. This is a good position if you prefer working one on one with clients.
Purpose: By teaching clients English, you will help make it possible for those who are blind or sight impaired to live independently and participate fully in community life.
Where: Manhattan
When: weekdays at the mutual convenience of the volunteer and the client
Duration of Commitment: 6-month minimum
Type of Volunteers: individuals, small groups
Skills Needed:  Teaching experience preferable; patience and friendliness, high school or GED graduate and bilingual English/Spanish with ability to write English fluently necessary
Orientation / Training: A brief orientation and training will take place at the site.
