Maintenance & Repair

Description:  Assist staff with keeping the store clean and clutter free. Tasks may include painting, plumbing, and doing general building repairs and upkeep of site.  If you enjoy manual labor and immediately seeing the results of your work, this is a perfect job for you.

Purpose:  By maintaining this thrift store in an inviting condition, you make it possible for it to appeal to a growing customer base. You also allow the clients to shop in a aesthetically pleasing and properly functioning facility.

Where:  The Bronx

When:  2 – 3 days, Monday through Saturday, for 3 1/2 hours between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Duration of Commitment:  Varies based on volunteer availability, half days are acceptable.

Type of Volunteers: individuals, groups

Skills Needed:  All maintenance skills, including ability to lift heavy objects are helpful; the store will train when specific skills are needed.

Orientation / Training: A brief orientation and training program will take place at the site.
