About Feeding Our Neighbors
"We need to feed the hungry in the name of Jesus, and that is a high honor and call. We need to make sure that none of our neighbors are ever turned away when they look to the church for help." - Cardinal-Designate Timothy Dolan
Feeding Our Neighbors is a united effort to fight hunger, sponsored by Catholic organizations throughout the Archdiocese of New York and managed by Catholic Charities.
The campaign is a response to Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan's call that we all do our part to replenish the food pantries and soup kitchens in our community, which so many families in our community rely on to survive.
100% of contributions to the Feeding Our Neighbors campaign will support local food pantries that serve New Yorkers of all religions, or no religion.
Organizational participants in Feeding Our Neighbors include all Archdiocesan Catholic schools, local parishes, the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), the Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education, and the Catholic Charities Federation. Donations of food and contributions to the fundraising campaign can be made through of any of these organizations. Big white boxes for non-perishable food donations will be placed in local Catholic parishes from Staten Island to Manhattan, throughout the Bronx and the Hudson Valley.
There is just one goal for Feeding Our Neighbors: That New Yorkers answer the call to feed those who are suffering in our community.
Testimonials from Our Participants:
"All boxes and bags of donated food items were successfully moved to the Holy Rosary food pantry with Father Richard, two faithful and very hard working Holy Rosary parishoners, a beat up, open bed pick up truck loaded to the hilt (twice!) and my SUV. On the receiving end, Deacon Billy Vacaro and scores of thankful men helped load the food into their pantry. At once, it seemed to double their pantry supplies and then some. The men were all moved to pitch in and the two lead volunteers were especially touched as was Deacon Billy who re-emphasized how generous Resurrection has been to their needs."
