Catholic Charities helps solve the problems of New Yorker's in need - non-Catholics and Catholics alike. The neglected child, the homeless family, and the hungry senior are among those for whom we provide help and create hope...
To raise awareness of the ways Catholic Charities responds to the constant need in our community, we have developed the Need Has No Season campaign.
The campaign uses images of extreme need set in Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter and Summer, exposing a reality that is starkly opposed to the joyful scenes traditionally associated with those seasons.
Yet, as the financial crisis continues, the unemployment rate reaches its highest point in more than a quarter century and homelessness pervades our city, Catholic Charities offers help and hope through our long list of human service programs.
In any given year, throughout every season, Catholic Charities:
Serves 5.3 million meals in parish and community food pantries
Provides safe places to play for 27,000 youngsters
Answers calls for help in 18 languages from 43,000 immigrants
Gives emergency shelter on any night to more than 1,500 homeless individuals or families
