CYO Art Show

This year's Dutchess County CYO Art Show was held at St. Joachim/St. John gym in Beacon, NY.  The art show featured about 650 pieces of art work from the various Catholic School students in Dutchess County.  Programs were distributed to the parents as they came in detailing the winners in the various categories.  The categories were Acrylics, Charcoal, Colored Pencil, Crayon, Cray-pas, Finger Paint, Magic Marker, Mixed Media, Paper, Pastel, Pencil Techniques, Pen, Scratchboard, Tempera, and Watercolor.

As the kids came in they searched for their artwork and would hold it up so their families could see.  The excitement on their faces as they found first, second, or third place ribbons on their artwork was rewarding.  The judges also selected one piece of artwork from each age division as the "Best of Show".  Those pieces were displayed at the front of the gym.

The art show had a great turnout as parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles came out to support the young artists.  We also set up a refreshment stand offering cookies, candy, chips, water, and juice.  The art show was an excellent night in which the Dutchess community gathered to celebrate the hard work of our youth.
