On Saturday, September 11, 2010, 700 union members and labor movement leaders attended the Annual Labor Mass at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in downtown Manhattan. The Labor Mass, organized by the Catholic Charities Department of Social and Community Development, was celebrated by the Most Reverend Timothy M. Dolan and is a demonstration of the Church's solidarity with the Labor movement.
Following the Mass, Archbishop Dolan met with representatives of the New York City Central Labor Council and union leaders. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York was represented by its executive director, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan. Employees in the Department of Social and Community Development were also in attendance.
