Second Annual Catholic Charities Gala raises $1.8 million

May 31, 2011 -- Nearly 700 guests filled the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf=Astoria for Catholic Charities' second annual gala benefit to support the work of providing help and creating hope for New Yorkers in need -- Catholic and non Catholic alike. More than $1.8 million dollars was raised. His Excellency, Archbishop Timothy Dolan presented the Deus Caritas Est Awards to Roger C. Altman, Founder and Chairman, Evercore Partners; H. Rodgin Cohen, Senior Chairman, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. Emcee of the program was Pat Battle, co-anchor for Weekend Today in NY, NBC4. Entertainment was provided by Linda Eder. Sister Margaret John Kelly, DC, a Vice Chair of the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees and Executive Director of the Vincentian Center at St. John's University, gave a moving Invocation.
