Description
Encore Community Services was founded in 1977 and is located in Manhattan's theatre district on West 49th Street. A multi-purpose agency providing services to more than 14,000 seniors annually. Encore addresses the needs of those elderly whose lives are disrupted by poverty, mental and/or physical frailty or homelessness. Its comprehensive programs are incorporated under its two main programs, the Encore Senior Center, located in the lower level of St. Malachy's (The Actors' Chapel) and Encore 49 Residence, a residential SRO facility that houses 89 formerly homeless, mentally ill elderly, located across the street from the Senior Center at 220 West 49th Street.
