LAMP Ministries (Lay Apostolic Ministries with the Poor) is a Catholic lay missionary association ("Private Association of Christian Faithful"), comprised of persons who serve among the materially poor of the metropolitan New York City area, with a specific focus on evangelization. Founded in 1981 by its current directors, Drs. Tom & Lyn Scheuring, LAMP attracts qualified single persons, married couples as well as religious sisters and priests, who serve full-time for a minimum of one year, in materially poor parishes, shelters for homeless families, and other areas of poverty. LAMP also provides a supportive structure and ongoing formation.
