Description
Nativity Mission Center was established in 1948 to provide special tutoring as well as counseling and recreational services to low-income, primarily Hispanic youth on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The middle school was founded as part of the center in 1971. Today, Nativity is a community comprised of students, families, teachers, administrators, board members, and supporters, founded and continued in the Jesuit tradition and committed to providing a new birth of hope for the economically deprived young people of this area. In all of our programs and services, Nativity strives to install in our students: A sense of the excitement and value of learning, A commitment to the simultaneous development of their intellectual, social, moral and spiritual dimensions, A sense of obligation to use one's gifts and talents in services for others.
